Question question on a shield mod

Hi i have 2 shields with odd mods... q10 str shadow shield Healing prayers+1(20%)+ 10/piercing and aq11 tac Guardian/Hunt earth magic +1(20%).closest thing ive seen for that is master of my domain on offhands..?: Were these nerfed out on shields or just overall very rare?

I'm guessing these dropped in Prophecies or Factions. Offhands in those campaigns don't always follow the 1 mod + inscription rule that inscribable weapons have. This can lead to weapons that you can't replicate with the inscription system, and sometimes these can be quite valuable. Most times they aren't, like staves with an Illusion requirement, HCT Fire, and HRT Smiting (or something like that).

In your case, I wouldn't think they're worth much. The first would be interesting if it only required 8-9 Tactics because Monks may find a use for them. Str isn't nearly as useful since only Warrior's can put points in it.

I can't see much use for the second. Again, it's interesting, but I wouldn't think it's optimal for anything.

The +1 Healing Prayers shield is useful for the Wammo who wants to hit that +4 regen on Mending. Just keep recasting it until it kicks in.

Ok, now that I poked fun at the wammos, I'll answer. Shields can have 2 inscriptions or 2 handles, but ONLY if they drop in Prophecies or Factions. It is rare for them to have 2 of the same type of mod, and even rarer for them to be good mods. For a while there was a lot of talk about shields with -2 Stance and -2 Enchantment modded shields. Some mods are far more valuable than others, and very few are valuable to a caster. Casters use the shields for defense, so the +1 attribute won't be much use for defense, and a Focus item can provide that same mod without being so rare.

It's a normal mod.
Shields dropping in Prophecies and Factions have their mods picked from 5 mod groups:
+Health mods,
+Armor mods,
-Dmg reduction mods,
-Condition reduction mods,
+1 Attribute mods.

and the last group includes +1s for:
Strength, Tactics
Divine Favor, Healing Prayers, Protection Prayers, Smiting Prayers,
Air Magic, Earth Magic, Fire Magic, Water Magic
Blood Magic, Curses, Death Magic
Domination, Illusion, Inspiration(not sure about this one),

These shields were never 'nerfed', they can still normally drop, they aren't very rare, but ... good ones - shields with +1 for a useful attribute (20% chance) AND another good mod (like +30 health) are quite rare and valuable.
